For a Good Friend
Definitely the darkest painting I've ever done. This is my visual processing of what I see in a close friend who's coping with a huge loss right now. It might not be up here long, if they don't want it seen I'm going to delete the post. But outside of the events that created this work, I feel really good about the painting as a stylistic deviation from my normal colorful silly stuff. Drawing dark subjects, and also using a limited palette have both been really difficult for me to execute well. So this painting is really a landmark for me. It's also moving (personally) to be able to visually communicate how I feel, and how I perceive a friend's internal struggle.
